Ryan and David, a non-binary trans person and a cis man, are now married and live together in Hilversum. Ryan went into transition at the age of 23. A year and a half ago, Ryan stopped taking the testosterone so they could get pregnant. And there is a baby on the way: Ryan is now 7 months pregnant. There are not many people in the Netherlands who are in the same situation as Ryan en David. This is not surprising because until 2014, a mandatory sterilization was laid down in the old transgender law in the Netherlands, so that people who wanted to adjust the gender in their birthcertificate had to undergo a forced sterilization and sex change. When the baby is there, Ryan is the parent and David is the father.
